Integration Readiness Toolkit
A new toolkit has been launched to help local health and care leaders to self-assess the present state of readiness to bring about integration. Developed jointly by NHS Clinical Commissioners, NHS Confederation, Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) and the Local Government Association (LGA), the toolkit focuses on the key elements and characteristics needed for successful integration, offering insight into where your organisation is now and the right way forward for you.
Prime Minister commitment to involvement of the public in NHS Sustainability and Transformation plans
During Prime Minister’s Question Time on 8th September, Theresa May gave a clear indication of the expectation that the NHS Sustainability and Transformation plans should involve the local population in decision making.
Commissioners asked to enhance the use of patient insight
Clinical Commissioning Groups across England have been asked to develop the way in which patient insight is utilised when making commissioning decisions. NHS England are in the process of developing a number of bite-size guides to help commissioners to familiarise themselves with a range of national surveys, data which and patient insight in order to develop local services.
Mental Health and Wellbeing national results
NHS Digital have published the results of the national Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing, 2014 which shows that one in three adults (33 per cent) aged 16-74 with conditions such as anxiety or depression surveyed in England, were accessing mental health treatment in 2014. The data published by NHS Digital demonstrates that the figure has increased from one in four people (24 per cent) since the last survey was carried out in 2007.
Plan to reduce “Red Tape” for health and care in England
The Department of Health announced on 28th September their plan to challenge red tape in the provision of health and care across England. Minister for Health, Lord Prior is setting up a panel in partnership with NHS Providers, NHS Confederation and Care England
called the Burden Reduction Challenge.
