We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Lord Andrew Mawson and Sir David Dalton as Strategic Advisors to the Board.

Lord Mawson and Sir David will be part of our newly established Strategic Advisory Group. This group will provide strategy, policy and business development advice and support to the TU Board.

Lord Mawson OBE brings with him over 35 years’ experience as a social entrepreneur and innovator.  He founded the Bromley by Bow Centre in East London to tackle the many issues which affect health and wellbeing, creating a national blueprint for building a healthy, vibrant local community. He was made a life Peer in 2007 in recognition for the social impact of his work and now sits as an independent crossbench Peer in the House of Lords. In 2015 he became Executive Chairman of Well North Enterprises, which has a special focus on place-making and the creation of integrated communities, exploring the relationship between the built environment and the creation of entrepreneurial cultures in some of our most challenged communities.

Sir David has been a Chief Executive in the NHS for 20 years, with 18 of these at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. He has a prominent profile nationally in the areas of quality improvement and patient safety. Under his leadership, Salford Royal set out its clear ambition to be the safest organisation in the NHS and has adopted a disciplined approach of applied ‘improvement science’ coupled with deep staff involvement.

Alex Heritage, Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted that Lord Mawson and Sir David are joining us as we embark on the journey towards realising our ambitious 2025 strategy. They bring a wealth of experience which will be vital as we continue to drive forward our plans to grow and develop as a national provider.”
