Kelly Bishop, our Head of Nursing, has been published in the RCNi Nursing Management Journal this week with her article, ‘Nursing input is vital to set services on a new course’.
The piece has a timely focus on system transformation in health and care and one of the NHS Long Term Plan’s stated aims to develop a new service model for the 21st century. The plan sets out how the NHS will move to a new service model in which patients get more options, better support and properly joined up care at the right time in the optimal care setting.
In this article, Kelly discusses the importance of nurses being actively involved throughout service transformation, and touches on acute service transformation within the integrated care systems that will be central to the successful delivery of the Long Term Plan. Importantly, the article looks at the effect it will have on a wide range of patients and how critical it is that the nursing voice is articulated and heard.
